BICC organises presentation on certified trading chains

On invitation of BICC/ Fatal Transactions Germany,Mr. Markus Wagner, Section Head of the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources will present the certification scheme that BGR is currently developing for Mineral Production in the Great Lakes Region.

Certified Trading Chains in mineral production could represent an instrument to implement ethical standards and transparency in artisanal and small-scale mining, thus improving the quality of life for the minerals and communities in conflict prone areas. Mr. Wagner will present the pilot study on Coltan and Casserite from Rwanda, followed by a discussion on how certifying minerals and new techniques of 'finger printing' can contribute to processes of peace building and development in fragile regions.
