A debate about natural wealth and development in Congo and Africa. Diamonds: a girl’s best friend? 'Africa deserves a fair share of the revenues from their mining sector'.
From November 5th till November 9th, the top of the Diamond world gathers in Brussels to attend the annual meeting of the Kimberley Process Certification scheme. An initiative that combines the efforts of the world diamond industry, civil society and governments of more then 70 different countries, to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the market. How efficient is Kimberley? Can it serve as an example to regulate the trade in other natural resources? Will it contribute to a fair share of the profits of mining for Africa?
