Diamond Matters awarded: World Press Photo

Diamond Matters has been awarded with the second prize in the category "Contemporary Issues: stories", at the World Press Photo competition.

Photographer Kadir van Lohuizen received his prize Sunday the 23d of April, at the award ceremony in the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. The exhibition shows the route of a diamond; from the mines in Africa via diamond cutters in India to the bourses and rich customers in the West.

In November 2004 Kadir van Lohuizen won the "Dick Scherpenzeel prize" for his pictures of the Diamond pipeline. The Dick Scherpenzeel prize recognises awards for productions, filmed, written, sound or in picture, that give insight into development processes in non-western countries, or relate to North-South relations in a more general sense.

The photo exhibition has visualised the Fatal Transactions campaign in a stunning way, and has supported many activities.
