Potential benefits of uranium mining and milling

Besides negative impacts, we can also identify a number of potential advantages of uranium mining in Africa:

• The mining and milling can create employment opportunities in poor areas
• It can contribute to the diversification of the economy
• Mining companies often contribute to infrastructure development by constructing, for example, roads, schools and/or medical centres, and
• If mining contracts are fair, uranium mining can generate substantial amounts of revenue for African countries
